Why does Blackwall Reach need regeneration?
Blackwall Reach is made up Robin Hood Gardens, Woolmore Street, Mackrow Walk, Indigo Mews and Anderson House. This area has seen major changes in the last 25 years with developments such as the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) helping to make life better in some respects, however much of the investment that has benefited other areas of London has passed the neighbourhood by.
Many of the homes and business premises in the area are in need of investment, while there is also a lack of decent shops or community facilities and open spaces that would benefit from further improvement. Doing nothing is not an option.
The regeneration proposals address these issues, recommending the building of new homes, creation of new open spaces and the development of better shops and community facilities helping to create a more vibrant and sustainable community.
